Valerie Kabov

Valerie Kabov is a critic, academic as well as a multi-disciplinary art professional. She combines her research in art history and cultural policy with practical projects and initiatives aimed at education and development of support for emerging and contemporary art by broader audiences. As founder and director of Renaissance art investment consultancy (www.renaissanceaic.com.au) Valerie works to assist and advise contemporary artists and galleries and consults to private corporate and individual clients, auction houses and works on international projects to promote and develop emerging artists. She also conducts collector education seminars, contributes to art publications, publishes her own critically acclaimed, monthly newsletter Why Art? newsletter. Valerie has a Masters in Curatorship and Modern Art from the University of Sydney, Department of Art History and Theory with a specialisation in initiatives to effectively engage with and bridge the gap between the contemporary art and the general public. Valerie’s doctoral project in Art History at the Sorbonne, Paris 1 focuses on the relationship between cultural policy the art market and broad-based reception and engagement with contemporary art.
